Yesterday was our sixth wedding anniversary. We typically go away for a couple of days and generally spend way too much money. This year, we decided to spend way too much money later on and just have a simple night out.
We started out by driving to an extremely crowded mall where parking is just this side of impossible to find. We managed to find someone leaving before completing one pass through the lot. We walked to the restaurant to find about a twenty minute wait for a table. Not bad for a Friday night at 5:30. It was so loud, I had to repeat almost everything I said to our waitress. The only thing she heard plainly was when I told her how much change I needed back. Figures. The food was good and we decided to drop the doggie bags off at the house on our way to the movie.
Once at the theater, we managed to get choice seats. We went to see Zwartboek (Black Book). It was a really good movie about the Dutch resistance during the waning days of World War II. With the exception of someone’s cell phone ringing a couple of times, I was able to sit back and enjoy it.
After it was over, we went straight home and enjoyed a little kiss on the front porch. All in all, a very nice evening with not too many distractions.
